Description
This table gives the distribution of population by sex and religion for total, rural and urban areas separately for India, state, District, tehsil and town levels. The figures of six major religious communities, viz., Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains are presented in this table in the order of their numeric strength. The combined population of all the other religion names grouped in the category of 'Other Religions & Persuasions' and 'Religion Not Stated' has also been presented in the table. This table has an appendix and an annexure.
